Who is Zander?
Zander Schlacter is an artist, designer, and creative consultant in Brooklyn, New York.
Zander loves complex repeating patterns, vibrating color palettes, and geometric shapes with personality. He is passionate about his sketchbook practice, and he enjoys teaching. He believes wholeheartedly in the transformative power of making stuff together and having a fun time.
In 2020, Zander founded his namesake brand. Initially it was a home textiles line, but with time it has expanded to reflect the evolution of Zander's practice. He has applied his artwork and pattern designs to home textiles, apparel, wallpaper, stationery, books, and ceramic tiles. He has designed product collaborations with Brooklinen, Nike, and Great Jones and created installations for Ace Hotel and Marimekko.
Zander earned his BFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design. He was a 2017-2018 Queer|Art|Mentorship Fellow and has exhibited solo shows at Spring/Break Art Show, Elephant Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee, and Transformer Gallery in Washington, D.C. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Domino, and New York Magazine.
Zander has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute and currently hosts creative making workshops at his Brooklyn studio. He also writes a Substack called Meander.

Office Hours
Office Hours are one-on-one creative coaching sessions with Zander. Zander supports artists and designers of all experience levels who are looking to gain clarity with their creative work and build the confidence to share it with the world!
Zander offers a supportive sounding board for early-stage ideas and can help map them into an actionable plan, or he can provide feedback on works in progress, a portfolio for an application submission, or written artist statements.
Through his experience teaching and supporting students of many backgrounds, skill levels, and ages, and through his own experience making art and designing professionally, he knows first-hand the creative process can be emotionally charged and complicated. He has cultivated a style of critique and coaching that is honest and direct, while maintaining an encouraging, non-judgemental, and empathetic environment.
Office Hours sessions are $200 and 1 hour long, available in person at Zander’s Brooklyn studio or on Zoom.
2 free sessions are reserved per month for POC and trans creatives.
